Special Olympics Ireland Games Limerick 2010
Well done to all athletes who competed in the Special Olympics Ireland 2010 in Limerick. Athletes from Wisdom Services were amongst 1,900 competing in the events which included athletics, swimming, kayaking, riding, golf and badminton. Our athletes travelled to Limerick with their crack team of coaches and supporters. They returned having had not only a wonderful time meeting old friends and making new ones but with a glorious collection of medals won in the swimming and athletics events. Our Motor Activity Team brought home remarkable 13 gold medals from their one day event on Friday. A big thank you to the many members of staff who helped make this dream come true.
New Homes in Sligo
Sophia Housing Ltd., a social housing group, have recently purchased two houses in the Cairns Hill area of Sligo town for use by service users of Wisdom Services, Cregg House. The houses are currently being adapted and should be ready for use by November / December 2009.
Official opening of new bungalow
Friday 13th November saw the official opening of Coney View, our new bungalow
located on the Cregg campus. An existing building was extensively refurbished to
create a beautiful home for our service users who can now enjoy the greater
privacy of their own rooms. We would like to thank especially the Communication
Workers of Ireland for their donation and everyone else who made this welcome new development possible.
