The main focus of the Centre is community inclusion in all aspects of occupational, educational and leisure activities. The aim is to move away from centre-based activities to a setting where service users are encouraged and supported to set their own goals and objectives.

The Centre provides a range of educational and leisure activities including:

  • FETAC Modules: (Further Education and Training Awards Council)
  • Workability Training Project:
  • Personal development: advocacy
  • Community awareness
  • Travel training/safety awareness
  • Job sampling/ work experience
  • Computer work/literacy skills
  • Art
  • Cookery (Sligo VEC funded)
  • Drama
  • Pastoral care

A range of occupational opportunities are provided which include:

  • Dust Buster Cleaning Service A mobile work crew consisting of ten members and one support worker.
  • The Perfect Press Ironing Service Operates from the Nu-Haven Centre and is run by a team of eight service users.
  • Craft Work Department The service users sell craft items through membership of the ‘Origins Farmer’s Market’ in the grounds of Sligo IT.
  • Recycling Project In collaboration with Abbot Ireland
  • Volunteer work Enable Ireland, Sligo Social Services etc.
