Community Programme
Our first community house opened in 1983. In total there are now 12 houses, 11 in the Sligo town area and one in Tubbercurry.
We cater for men and women with a moderate degree of learning difficulty. They range in age from 34-62 years.
Our aims and objectives are both to ensure as homelike an environment as possible and the inclusion of our service users in community life. We aim to give everybody a say in their day-to-day lives and to offer choices. The range of social and recreational activities enjoyed by our service users include: theatre and cinema, pottery classes, horse riding, swimming, badminton and dancing. Our service users have also travelled within Ireland and abroad for weekends away and longer holidays and also to participate in sporting events.
All individuals are directly involved in the daily running of their home for example menu planning, weekly shopping and the upkeep of their home.
