Team Special Care

Team Special Care caters for service users with severe and profound intellectual and physical disabilities. This service  offers both full-time residential and respite care places. The team comprises seven areas; Avalon, Benbulben View, Coney View, Hazelwood, Innisfree, St Bernadette's and St Raphael's.

Avalon is a specialist unit for children.   St Raphael's provides care and services for people who have dementia. Hazelwood offers facilities designed to meet the needs of older persons. Innisfree specialises in the care of adults with more complex needs and St Bernadette's is a residential unit focusing on the needs of individuals who have greater mobility.

Coney View and Benbulben View are two adjoining bungalows, each with separate access, converted from a existing building. It was possible to  relocate a group of service users from a large special care unit which formerly accommodated up to 22 people. Each individual now has their own room which allows for greater privacy.  Enabling smaller groups to be able to live together has greatly enhanced the service user's quality of life.
