Social Work Department

Over the years, the Sisters of la Sagesse (now Wisdom Services) has shown an awareness of and a commitment to, the provision of a social work service as an integral part of the network of support services provided for the children, young people and adults based here at Cregg House.

Because of the history of the evolution of the service, the present client group come from a broad geographical area stretching along the Western sea board. Consequently, this unique group of individuals and their families now present with quite a distinct and diverse range of needs and abilities.

Since it’s beginning, over a century ago, social work practice has focused on meeting human needs and developing human potential. Keeping this basic principle in mind, the primary aim of the social worker is to work in partnership with service users, their families, carers, and staff members to identify needs and to offer the practical and emotional support which contributes to the development of the full human potential of each individual.
